DESCRIPTION: APW - Hamilton, Grade 950 with rare dial, 23J, 16S, heavy 14K gold OF original Hamilton case, gold cuvette with signature ring, Montgomery's 1920 patent style white enamel DS dial, SW-LS, fullly capped lever escapement, jeweled barrel arbor, striped pattern nickel damascene, s#1150120. Gross weight of assembled watch 65.7 dwt (102.3 g). This rare and very eye-catching dial design by H.S. Montgomery was granted U.S. Design Patent 54950 on April 20th, 1920; dials of this design were made for several American watch makes and all of these are rare. From the well-known Hamilton collection of Robert Bennett of Olivehurst, California.
CONDITION: Mvt: Running, nearly mint cosmetic mvt condition overall, bright lustrous surfaces, few micro-fine scratches, one mismatched screw on hub of larger winding wheel, lower case screw with pitting; virtually flawless dial with infinitesimal pinpoint nick to inner rim of outer chapter above 12, few mild micro-fine scratches within seconds-register; excellent hands; case shows very little wear, no dents or dings, very strong engine turning and engraving detail, rear shield with some rippling of surface reflection indicative of polishing; tight bow, crown shows light wear; good glass crystal.
